Canada does not make it a secret that it depends on immigrants to strengthen its economy due to their contributions to the labour market and economy.
To maintain this, the Federal Government of Canada recently released its immigration-level plans for 2023 to 2025.
In summary for 2023, the target amount of immigrants will be 465,000 in all categories. All of the categories include economic, family, refugee and protected persons and humanitarian and compassionate grounds. Of those four categories each year, the highest amount Canada hopes to invite will be in the economic category which it hopes will be around 266,000 immigrants. Second, will be the family class which it hopes to invite approximately 106,000.
For 2024 in those same categories in total, the target is 485,000 with a total of 281,000 of those coming from the economic class, 114,000 coming from the family class, 76,000 coming from the refugee class and 13,000 from the humanitarian and compassionate grounds class.
Lastly, for 2025, the target is 500,000 with a total of 301,000 in the economic class, 118,000 in the family class, 72,000 in the refugee class and 8000 in the humanitarian and compassionate class.
The economic class will include all three programs (FSW, FST and CEC). There will be a temporary policy similar to the TR to PR Pathway that will be launched in 2023. Anyone who is in the business immigration category including start-up visa and self-employed category and the pilot programs for home child care providers and home support workers will be considered in these annual targets as well.
